INOGATE Support Group

The overall objective of this project is to support the achievement of the INOGATE Programme's objectives by facilitating co-operation, disseminating and co-ordinating information and promoting investment among the key players of the INOGATE Programme, namely beneficiary countries, INOGATE contractors and potential investors.

The project has three specific objectives, namely:

Facilitating co-operation with producer and transit countries with a view to supporting the achievement of the INOGATE Programme's specific objectives
Ensuring an effective flow and co-ordination of information by establishing a network of Regional INOGATE Co-ordinators
Promoting European investments in transport and production of oil and gas pipeline systems

Some of the activities that will be undertaken include:

Establishment an Information Centre for the INOGATE Programme including the creation of a complete library of studies and reports from INOGATE projects in hard and electronic formats.
Promotion of the INOGATE Programme through participation in international exhibitions and conferences and organisation of INOGATE events
Redesigning the INOGATE web site in a more user-friendly format and updated with new information
Establishment of a network of Regional INOGATE Co-ordinators
Provision of technical assistance in the capacity of "facilitators" in support of the specific objectives of the INOGATE Programme covering the fields of oil and gas, institutional development, finance and banking sectors.

The expected results of these activities are:

Reinforced co-operation and understanding for the development of new and existing oil and gas pipelines between producer and transit countries as well as between them and the EU
Improved regional co-ordination and strengthened institutional development of the INOGATE Programme
Increased awareness, interest and involvement of European private investors and International Financial Institutions in supporting the development of new and existing oil and gas pipelines systems which aim towards securing Europe's energy supply.
